    Absolute Aromas

    Chair - David Tomlinson

    David Tomlinson founded Absolute Aromas in 1994 after working in International Sales and Marketing, before deciding to start his own company in 1994.  From small beginnings in his London flat, David and his wife, Kay, have grown the business and now run their operation from their current site in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, with on-site laboratories to test every batch.  Because of Absolute Aromas' commitment to pure, natural wellness, quality and sustainable sourcing, their customers trust their products, knowing they are ethically sourced and carefully crafted.  Over the years, David and Kay's children, now grown up, have all worked for the company at some point too, with two of them currently working for the business in Sales and Development. 

    Vice Chair - Julie Foster

    Julie Foster is an aromatherapy educator, product formulator and industry adviser with decades of experience in aromatherapy, natural products and regulatory compliance.

    Known for her expertise in ingredient selection, formulation and standards, she has worked with retailers, pharmacies and wellness brands to develop compliant, consumer-focused product ranges.

    A Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health and a senior tutor with the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC), Julie supports organisations in product development, professional education and regulatory compliance across international markets.

    As Vice Chair of the Aromatherapy Trade Council (ATC), Julie takes an active role in industry advocacy and engagement with government and regulatory stakeholders, helping to promote standards, consumer protection, regulatory awareness and best practice across the aromatherapy and essential oil sector.

    Andrew Ewan

    Andrew is the Managing Director and Owner of Lily & Loaf, a company dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing through premium natural products. With many years of experience in the natural health industry, initially focused on food supplements, Lily & Loaf have offered a range of organic essential oils for the past eight years.

    As a proud member of the ATC for the past eight years, I felt it was the right time to give back to this incredible community. I was elected to join the board in November 2024, bringing with me a strong background in operational and technical support. I’m passionate about maintaining the integrity of our industry and supporting its continued growth.

    Ray Gransby

    Ray qualified as a biologist and microbiologist in the 1960s with a BSc Honours degree in Zoology with Botany. He has more than 50 years experience in the cosmetics, toiletry, perfumery, flavour & fragrance and essential oil industries with many of the leading multi-national companies. During this time Ray held a variety of quality, technical service, production and development roles at senior management and board level specialising in legislation and regulatory affairs on a worldwide basis. Ray has considerable experience of the science of essential oils and particularly those used in aromatherapy practice and was for several years a part-time lecturer in the chemistry of essential oils and the science of aromatherapy at Anglia Ruskin University. Ray is currently a consultant specialising in legislation and regulatory affairs.

    Chris Taylor

    Chris originally started his career at Royal Institute of British Architects. After completing his post-graduate in Marketing in 2002 he decided to join the family aromatherapy business (Eve Taylor™ Aromatherapy) as Director of Business Development. Eve Taylor™ is now one of the UK’s fastest growing professional aromatherapy skin and body care companies.

    Samr Calcutawala is a flavour and fragrance supply chain leader with over 28 years of experience building sustainable and traceable sourcing networks. As Co-Founder of Origin Oils, he champions farmer-linked, transparent supply chains that support regenerative agriculture and responsible production of natural aromatics. He also serves on the board of the British Essential Oil Association (BEOA), supporting industry standards and sustainability initiatives.
